Techspire College and Karmacode Nepal Join Forces for the Community Tech Mentorship Program

We are excited to share the news of a strategic partnership established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Techspire College and Karma Code Nepal. This collaboration aims to bring the Community Tech Mentorship Program to selected community and public secondary schools across Nepal.

A Powerful Synergy for Experiential Learning

The primary objective of this collaboration is to blend Techspire's technical instruction and academic leadership with Karma Code Nepal's unique expertise. Officially designated as the "Experiential Learning Partner," Karma Code Nepal will contribute its knowledge in low-resource pedagogy, civic problem-mapping, experiential facilitation, and long-term student engagement.

The 3-Session Experiential Learning Arc

As part of Techspire's 12-Week Community Tech Mentorship Program cycle, Karma Code Nepal will deliver a 3-Session Experiential Learning Arc, occurring once at the start of each month:

  • Month 1 - Tech Career Guidance & Canva Poster Workshop: This session introduces students to diverse tech careers, including UI/UX Design, Software Engineering, AI Engineering, QA, and Networking. Students will divide into teams based on their career preferences to design Canva posters, which will be printed and pasted in classrooms to foster ongoing career awareness.

  • Month 2 - Design Thinking & Civic Problem Mapping: Before they even start writing code, students will learn to connect web design fundamentals to real-world community issues. Utilizing human-centered design thinking and paper wireframing, students will establish a clear civic purpose and functional site layout for their projects.

  • Month 3 - Storytelling, Pitching & Presentation: Taking place before Demo Day, this final session focuses on public speaking preparation, proper presentation, and storytelling techniques to ensure students can confidently pitch their web solutions.

Empowering Through Collaboration

To ensure the program creates a lasting impact, both organizations have outlined clear responsibilities:

  • Techspire College (Program Host): Techspire will lead the overall program operations, including school identification, municipal approvals, and scheduling. They are also responsible for coordinating the technical web design modules and deploying Techspire IT student mentors to provide ongoing technical project assistance during Months 2 and 3.

  • Karma Code Nepal (Experiential Learning Partner): Along with facilitating the monthly hands-on workshops, Karma Code Nepal will provide low-resource activity designs, such as physical group simulations and pen-and-paper wireframing templates that require no specialized computer infrastructure. Additionally, they will focus on gender and inclusion support by actively structuring group dynamics to ensure female students take on active leadership roles within their project groups.

This partnership is set for a duration of one year, during which both parties will collaborate on monitoring, evaluation, and collecting impact metrics to celebrate project outcomes and success stories.
